The people of Bangladesh demand to see the trial of “fascist killer Shiekh Hasina” in the July proclamation, National Citizens' Committee chief organiser Sarjis Alam has said.

Speaking in Bhola on Friday morning during a leaflet distribution campaign and street rally organised by the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, he called for the proclamation to highlight justice for alleged crimes under Hasina’s regime.

The movement coordinator was participating in the public relations campaign as part of efforts to build support for the proclamation of the July Revolution.

Sarjis said, “For the past 15 years, the people of Bangladesh have endured extreme oppression under an unprecedented fascist and mafia rule.

“Together, we have fought to oust this tyrannical Hasina government from the soil of Bengal.”

He added, “That’s why, in the declaration for the 2024 uprising, the people of Bengal demand to see the trial of the fascist killer Hasina first.”

The movement leader said, “What’s most important is that this proclamation must clearly mention the trial and punishment of the killers, including Hasina and those who gave orders for the killing and bloodshed.

He highlights that they have spoken to people from all walks of life, who have shown solidarity and considered their seven-point list of demands justified.

Sarjis emphasises that this proclamation must reflect the sacrifices of the working people in every district and Upazila.

“Killer Hasina has set up a syndicate in Gopalganj. Her family has established syndicates everywhere, depriving the people of their rights.”

“The people of Bengal want to end these syndicates and see a Bangladesh based on equality,” Sarjis concluded.
