Train collides with truck in Gafargaon, 5 injured

At least five passengers were injured in a train-tractor collision near Gafargaon Railway Station in Mymensingh. The accident occurred at a place called Basutia this Friday morning. SI Ariz Sikder, in-charge of Gafargaon Railway Outpost, said that the truck driver is absconding after the incident. The truck has been seized.

According to police and local sources, after leaving the Dhaka-bound intercity Brahmaputra Express train station, a truck loaded with sand collided with a moving train while crossing the railway line in Basutia area of Gafargaon Union. The truck was twisted and mangled in the collision.

At least five passengers were injured in the collision. Among them, one train passenger named Md. Zakaria (40) has been admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. The injured train passenger's home is in Ganda village of Kendua upazila of Netrokona district. Dr. Rakibul Islam, the on-duty physician at Gafargaon Health Complex, said that the condition of the injured train passenger is critical.
