It has been alleged that terrorists shot at Masum Billah, former member secretary of Upazila Chhatra Dal, in his house in Rupganj, Narayanganj.

The shooting incident has created extreme panic in the public. Police have recovered bullet shells from the scene.

The shooting incident took place at around 11:30 pm on Monday at the house of Chhatra Dal leader Masum Billah in Paragaon Lavrapara area of Bhulata Union of the upazila.

Masum Billah was a former member secretary of Upazila Chhatra Dal.

Masum Billah alleged that since the fall of the autocratic Sheikh Hasina government on August 5, they have united with the locals against the terrorists to create a drug and terrorism-free area. Therefore, on January 5, the locals led a protest march against drugs and terrorists.

On that day, they learned that local drug dealer terrorist Shahin and his gang were preparing to attack the locals with weapons to gain dominance in the area. Later, the locals gathered together to resist them and arrested Shahin's associate Shuru Mia along with a large number of local sharp weapons from the scene and handed them over to the police. Enraged by this, the terrorists opened fire on the house at around 11:30 pm on Monday night with the intention of killing Masum Billah. The people of the surrounding houses started running at the sound of the gunfire. At that time, extreme panic was created among the people. The police recovered a bullet shell.

Inspector Mizanur Rahman, in-charge of Bhulta Police Outpost, admitted the incident and said that the bullet shell was recovered from the scene.
