A farewell was accorded to three distinguished teachers retiring from Morelganj Government Siraj Uddin Memorial College in Bagerhat on Tuesday in the college's teachers' Lounge.

The retiring teachers were Afzal Faruk, Lecturer of Agricultural Science, S.M. Jalal Uddin, Lecturer of Islamic History and Culture, and Md. Ismail Hossain, Lecturer of Chemistry.

The ceremony was presided over by the college's Acting Principal, Md. Sabir Ahmed Akhand. The Chief Guest at the event was Md. Nurul Alam Fakir, Principal of Sharonkhola Government College.

Special guests and speakers included Academic Council Secretary and Assistant Professor Md. Zakir Hossain, Teachers' Association Secretary Md. Zakir Hossain Riaz, Assistant Professor Md. Shahjahan Howlader, and lecturers Emdadul Haque, Nurul Amin Sheikh, Raihana Akter, Zahidul Islam, Govinda Mallik, A. Wadud, and Mashiur Rahman Sohag.

The farewell ceremony's convener, Lecturer Md. Monirul Islam, delivered a welcome speech, while Lecturer Md. Jasim Uddin Howlader hosted the event.

The departing teachers reminisced about their careers, expressed gratitude towards their colleagues, and wished for the well-being of everyone associated with the college. The Chief Guest and other attendees presented honorary crests to the retiring teachers as tokens of appreciation.

The event was attended by nearly all teachers, staff members, and family members of the retiring teachers. During the program, Principal Md. Nurul Alam Fakir of Sharonkhola Government College inaugurated a new ICT lab for the college.

The ceremony concluded with a reception lunch for the guests, marking the end of a heartfelt and emotional occasion.
