Moynul Haque Mridha, Rajbari
A contractor named SM Molla Traders has been allegedly illegally selling large quantities of sand in Daulatdia Ferghat area of Goalando upazila of Rajbari.
The contractor of Rajbari was approved to transport sand from various government development projects and social and religious institutions from the District Balu Management Committee. But he did not do so and sold a large number of the sand in the form of lots and sell millions.
Besides, the administration explained to the local Mosharraf Hossain alias Musa Mondal and Nuru Sheikh as the landowner.
Out of the accused contractor Shimul Mia Daulatdia Balu businessman Belayet Hossain Mondal, Sohail Mondal, Sorap Mondal, Halim Fakir and several other people took the opportunity to raise, transport and sell their sand. In this case, he introduced himself as a contractor to get a sand tender.
Landowner Mosharraf Hossain alias Musa Mondal said, where the river's dredging sand was dumped, they have about 5 bighas of land. The District Bali Management Committee assigned the SM Molla Traders of Rajbari to use the various projects of this sand government and social and religious institutions. As a landowner, one -third of the sand allows me to lift me. That's how I was raising the sand. Due to the use of sand transport, I was giving the local Gafur Pal, Shaheed Pal and Hojai Pal to the car for UNO for 20 rupees. In this way, I have given them Tk.
But they could not be satisfied with it on March 7, leaving false accusations and filed a written complaint to the UNO. Then the sand lifting is stopped.
Balu businessman Belayet Hossain said that they had bought a portion of the sand from Messrs Molla Traders by Shimul Mia in a verbal contract of Rs 1 lakh. After paying Rs 1 lakh in advance, it is decided to give the rest of the money step by step. But he did not give any receipt. Some other groups were also buying sand from him and transporting them to different places. We did not lift the sand illegally. Now we are financially damaged because they are unable to pick up the sand.
Some of the complainants, including Gafur Pal and Shaheed Pal, said, "We have no money for sand." However, they (Musa Mondalgong) have business transactions.
Hassan Ahmed, a member secretary of the Rajbari District Balu Management Committee and Executive Engineer of the BIWTA area, said that they lifted 12 lakh cubic feet of sand this year to increase the navigability in the Daulatdia Ferighat area. In the two lots of the lifted sand, 1 lakh cubic feet of the river is dumped on the owned land on the banks of the riverAt the District Coordination Meeting in January, the decision was taken to implement various government projects and use the development of social and religious institutions and SM Molla Traders were given the responsibility for transporting it. But he was not allowed to sell to any other person or organization. The allegations will be discussed in the quoting phase and necessary action will be taken.
SM Molla Traders' proprietor Shimul Mia's cellphone has been called several times for the past two days but he has not received the call.
Goalando UNO Md. Nahidur Rahman said, "I have received written complaints of the locals." Sand lifting is temporarily closed. I urge everyone not to make any chaos. Investigation into the allegations will be taken and legal action will be taken.
