National Citizens Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam has said that Bangladesh will not continue to operate under the old system and old laws.
He said this at a road meeting at the end of the July Pathayatra to build the country at Berirpar in Moulvibazar on Saturday afternoon.
He said, an attempt is being made to dominate the police killings and blame the students and the uprising people for it. We made it clear on August 3 that our struggle has become a nuisance to Sheikh Hasina's fascist regime. We were forced to resist the oppression that was inflicted on us. Our struggle was against the fascist state and fascist forces.
He made these remarks at a road meeting after the July march to build the country on the outskirts of the city on Saturday afternoon.
Nahid Islam said, the interim government had many demands. But all our demands have been converted into election demands. We said we want elections, we are a force for democracy, a force fighting for voting rights. Regarding the constitution, the NCP convener said, we said we need a new constitution. A constitution that will write about the rights of the people of Bangladesh, recognize all historical struggles, and ensure equal rights for all races, religions, and castes. Earlier, the July march to build the country started from the city's Shaheed Minar. The march took place on Court Road and Shah Mostafa Road in the city.
People from all walks of life joined it. Under the chairmanship of Moulvibazar District Chief Coordinator Fahad Alam, NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain and Chief Coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwari also spoke. Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr. Tasnim Zara, central convener of Bangladesh Democratic Students' Union (BAGCHAS) Abu Baker Majumder, central organizer of National Youth Power Maruf Al Hamid, Zakaria Emon, and others.
