 Mohammad Nesar Uddin,  Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Louhajang in Munshiganj, inspected various erosion-prone areas along the banks of the Padma River. 

He assured that immediate measures will be taken to prevent further erosion by dumping sand-filled geo-bags. The UNO also requested maximum cooperation from the local residents in this regard.

From morning till noon on Saturday, he visited different parts of the Padma River embankment and ongoing river protection works to observe the situation firsthand and listen to the concerns of local residents. During the visit, the UNO was accompanied by the assistant engineer in charge of the Louhajang section of the Water Development Board. Traveling by speedboat, they inspected river protection works and erosion-prone areas in Teotia, Konaksar, Kumarbhog, Bejgaon, and Gaodia unions.

The UNO immediately contacted senior officials of the Water Development Board by mobile phone and urged them to take necessary steps to prevent further erosion by dumping sand-filled geo-bags in the affected areas. The Water Development Board assured him that protective measures would be taken swiftly.

Additionally, instructions have been given for erosion control work along the road near the Bejgaon riverbank, and work is currently ongoing.

Speaking to local journalists, UNO Mohammad Nesar Uddin said that due to inclement weather, rising water levels in the river, and strong winds over the past two days, some of the geo-bags placed by the Water Development Board had been displaced, causing erosion in several parts of the upazila. Many areas are at risk, although no houses have been washed away yet. Urgent requests have been made for immediate action in the erosion-affected areas. He also mentioned that the upazila administration is working swiftly in several locations to address the situation. 

He expressed hope that the erosion could be brought under control and again called for the full cooperation of the local community.
