Operation Devil Hunt to be launched nationwide from Saturday to nab terrorists
Staff Correspondent
The government has decided to launch ‘Operation Devil Hunt’ nationwide from Saturday to apprehend terrorists, following the violent attacks on students and common people in Gazipur on Friday night.
The Operation Devil Hunt will be conducted by joint forces across the country and further details will be made public on Sunday, said a press note floated by the Ministry of Home Affairs for the media this noon.
A group of terrorists, allegedly loyal to the defeated Awami League, attacked activists of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement around 12:30 am as they attempted to protect former Minister for Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Haque’s house in Gazipur.
At least 20 people, including several leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, sustained critical injuries during the attack.
In response to the incident, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Home Affairs this noon, where law enforcement agencies discussed the matter and decided to launch Operation Devil Hunt to nab the criminals and maintain the law and order of the country.
Upon receiving information that miscreants were looting and vandalizing Mozammel Haque’s residence in the Dhirasram area, Abdullah Al Mahim, a coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Gazipur, along with his supporters, rushed to the spot and came under the attack, according to locals.
