BNP leaders accused of beating Jamaat leaders at Pabna UNO office asked to show cause

Pabna Correspondent

Four BNP leaders have been accused for beating Jamaat leaders and activists at the Sujanagar UNO office in Pabna.

This was announced in a press release signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Adv. Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday.

District BNP member secretary Ed. Masud Khandaker confirmed the case. However, the accused claim that they have not received any notice in this regard till the time of writing this report.

The notice said that Upazila BNP leader Mujibur Rahman, Municipal Jubo Dal joint convener Babu Khan, BNP leader Manik Khan and NA College Chhatra Dal president Shakil Khan have been ordered to respond to the allegations within the next 24 hours on the basis of the allegations of entering the Sujanagar TNO office, creating ruckus and chaos, and behaving in an indecent and arrogant manner with local leaders of Jamaat Islami.

Earlier, the four BNP leaders were summoned in separate notices signed by Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. In this regard, they were asked to submit a written reply to the BNP central office in Nayapaltan within the next 24 hours as to why organizational action will not be taken against them in view of the incident mentioned in this notice.

In this regard, former Upazila BNP Youth and Sports Secretary Mujibur Rahman, one of the accused, said, "We have not received any such notice yet. If we receive it, we will give a proper reply."

Stating that a propaganda was being carried out by misleading the media by making false allegations, he said, "On the day of the incident, at 12 noon, we went to the UNO office to discuss a swamp. When we went, we saw Jamaat leaders and activists sitting in the UNO office. Unable to find a place to sit, I told the UNO that we need something. After talking to them, please call us. I did not receive any call. Then, at 3 pm, I went and saw that they were still sitting. Then I told the Jamaat leaders - if you sit all day, how will others work, others also have needs. Then they attacked me. Realizing that, the leaders and activists who were with me and their relatives rushed over, creating a chaotic atmosphere.

All the arguments here were with the Jamaat leaders, not with the UNO.
He said, Jamaat leaders sit in most offices in Sujanagar from 11 am all day. The same is true in the UNO office. There are arguments or fights over that. It is intentional to bring up the issue of sand mining here. I am not involved in any way in the sand extraction.

Incidentally, on Monday at around 3:30 pm, four Jamaat leaders including Sujanagar Upazila Jamaat Naib-e-Amir Faruk-e-Azam went to the UNO office for some work. At that time, some BNP leaders and activists led by Upazila BNP leader Mujibur Rahman went to the UNO. Jamaat leaders claim that the BNP leaders wanted to know from the UNO why the sand extraction was stopped. Then, angry at seeing the Jamaat leaders, the BNP leaders started beating them severely with punches and kicks. It is also alleged that the attackers, in a heated situation, also rushed towards the UNO.
