
ACC raids Youth Development Department in Bagerhat

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has raided the Youth Development Department in Bagerhat on charges of forgery of students' signatures, embezzlement of salaries and allowances, and various irregularities.
The raid was conducted on Wednesday afternoon at the Youth Training Center and the district office of the department located in Barakpur area of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila under the direction of the ACC Head Office. The raid was led by ACC, Bagerhat District Office Assistant Director Md. Saidur Rahman. In the four-hour raid, ACC officials found evidence of several irregularities.
ACC A,DMd. Saidur Rahman said that several irregularities were found in the raid. We found evidence of embezzlement of allowances given to trainees. Many trainees have said that they received less than the prescribed allowance. It has been found that the instructors are also paid less than the prescribed allowance. The car used to run the driving course here does not have an odometer. The car was driven for two kilometers on one liter of oil, as mentioned in the log book. In addition, there are various inconsistencies in the driving log book.
Along with this, evidence of corruption has also been found in the purchase of machines and goods. A fingerprint machine has been purchased. The price of which is shown as two lakh taka. But its price is only one lakh taka. The authorities could not show any documents related to this. The documents and information-evidence obtained in the operation will be sent to the ACC head office for further action. Further action will be taken as per the instructions there, said ACC Assistant Director Md. Saidur Rahman.
Abdul Quader, Deputy Director of the Department of Youth Development, Bagerhat, was present throughout the operation.
