Sarjis claims coming under attack from Chhatra Dal

Sarjis Alam, one of the key leaders of last year’s mass uprising, came under attack from allegedly Chhatra Dal activists after attending a meeting with his private university "compatriots" in the uprising on North South University campus around Thursday midnight.
Later, both groups went to the Bhatara Police Station to file complaints, the police station’s Officer-in-Charge Muzharul Islam told reporters. Police are trying to verify the claims, he said.
In a detailed facebook post, Sarjis claimed Chhaltra Dal leader Ahmed Shakil and some of his supporters created a tense situation by initiating a protest at the North South University gate, when Sarjis was departing from his over three-hour meeting with students from a number of prominent private universities.
According to the facebook post, Chhatra Dal’s Shakil launched a roadside protest against Dhaka University monopoly in the newly formed National Citizen Party, where Sarjis is a chief organiser. When Sarjis went to listen to Shakil’s concerns, the Chharta Dal leader’s supporters abruptly started using expletives against the private university students, who were accompanying Sarjis.
A brief scuffle erupted, prompting Sarjis to leave the spot to avoid an escalation. He did not mention sustaining any injuries. Later, he learnt that some of his private university followers were attacked with knives.
Sarjis demanded speedy trial against Shakil for the attack.
In the facebook post, he also warned Chhatra Dal of meeting the same fate of Chhatra League soon if it follows the same “terrorising practices.” He urged Chhatra Dal to learn from the past while it can.
