A 2-day long training for AICC affiliated/progressive farmers in Sylhet region has been completed. On Sunday morning, a 2-day long training session for AICC affiliated/progressive farmers titled 'Use of modern agricultural technology to increase agricultural production in Sylhet region' was completed by the Agricultural Information Service Sylhet Regional Office at the conference room of the Agricultural Information Service, Sylhet in Chandipool, South Surma.

Agricultural Information Service, Sylhet Regional Radio Agricultural Officer, Agriculturist Fahmida Akter presided over the concluding day of the training, while Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Sylhet, Agriculturist Md. Khoyer Uddin Mollah was present as the chief guest.

The training was attended by Dr. Fuad Mondal, Professor of the Department of Entomology, Sylhet Agricultural University, Additional Deputy Director (Plant Protection) of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Sylhet, Agronomist Md. Anisuzzaman, Senior Scientific Officer of SRDI, Sylhet, Dr. Tapan Kumar Saha, Senior Scientific Officer of Citrus Research Center, Jaintapur, Sylhet, Dr. MHM Borhan Uddin Bhuiyan, Monitoring Officer of the Oil Crops Production Increase Project, Sylhet Region, Agronomist Md. Faruk Hossain, Agronomist Saima Nazneen, Agronomist of Sylhet Metropolitan Agriculture Officer.

The main topics of the training were - the role of the Agricultural Information Service in spreading modern agricultural technology in the Sylhet region, introduction to various agricultural websites and apps (practical), making acidic soil suitable for crop cultivation through the use of dolo lime, fertilizer management through soil testing, profitable agricultural technologies in hilly areas, technologies for controlling crop pests in modern methods (pheromone traps, yellow traps, IPM and other technologies), seedling production technology in palisade houses.

Introduction and control management of harmful insects of field and horticultural crops, contribution of fruits to the national economy, varieties and introduction of modern crops invented by Bari, things to do to increase rice yield in the Boro season and main diseases and insect management, introduction and use of irrigation management (AWD), roof gardens through the use of modern technology, citrus crop production.

60 farmers associated with the Agricultural Information and Communication Center (AICC) of Sylhet, Habiganj, Moulvibazar and Sunamganj districts participated in the training.
