Two brothers among 4 dead from electrocution in three districts

Four people, including two brothers, died from electrocuted in Chuadanga, Magura and Pabna districts on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as brothers Aktaruzzaman, 55, his younger brother Alam Hossain, 40, of Puratan Bastopur village in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga, Rumi Khatun, 30, wife of Asgar Hossain of Gaesherpur village in Sreepur upazila of Magura, and autorickshaw driver Jahangir Alam, 40, son of Dogachi Purbopara Chithulia village in Pabna Sadar upazila.

In Chuadanga, elder brother Aktaruzzaman was electrocuted while he was cutting hay for cows with an electric machine at the house around 4pm.

Seeing this, Alam tried to save his brother and got electrocuted, said officer-in-charge (OC) of Damurhuda Humayun Kabir, quoting locals and family members.

Of them, the elder brother was rushed to Sadar Hospital and the younger to Damurhuda Upazila Health Complex where they were declared dead by physicians, the OC said.

A police team was sent to the spot, he said.

In Magura, housewife Rumi was electrocuted when she touched an electric-connected tin-fence of a cowshed at her house in the afternoon.

 She was rushed to Sreepur Upazila Health Complex and pronounced dead by physicians around 6:30pm.

Sreepur Police Station’s OC Idris Ali said an unnatural death case was filed in this connection.

Moreover in Pabna, autorickshaw driver Jahangir came into contact with a live electric wire while plugging a charging line of his vehicle in the Dogachi Purbopara Chithulia village around 1:30pm.

He succumbed to his injuries on the way to Pabna General Hospital, said local Bhadara Union Parishad Chairman Sultan Mahmud Khan.
