Robbery in widow's house threatening rape in Noakhali

A robbery incident occurred in Begumganj, Noakhali, by entering a widow's house and threatening rape.

Begumganj Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Kazi Md. Zakaria confirmed the matter on Friday afternoon. Earlier, the incident took place at Malangi house in Latifpur village of Rasulpur union of the upazila at around 2:45 am on Thursday.

According to police and local sources, an unknown gang of 8-10 robbers broke the main door of the building of Shahnaz Akhter (45) of Malangi house in Latifpur village of Rasulpur union of the upazila and entered the house. At that time, the robbers, armed with country-made weapons, had masks and towels tied over their faces. Later, they threatened the woman with rape at gunpoint and looted 6 mobile phones, 2 gold bars, 40,000 taka in cash, 8 sarees, 1 blanket, cosmetics and 1 carton of dates.

Liton Dewan, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Begumganj Police Station, was called several times to inquire about this, but he did not receive it.

However, when contacted, Begumganj Police Station SI Kazi Md. Zakaria said, "I visited the scene after receiving the news. The victim's husband has died. She lives in the house with a child and two daughters. Legal action will be taken if a written complaint is received.
