Human chain in Kalapara protesting rape, violence, torture of women across country

A human chain was formed in Kalapara, Patuakhali to protest against rape, violence and torture of women across the country.

The program was organized by the Violence Against Women (VAW) Network in front of the Kalapara Upazila Complex at 11 am on Thursday.

The human chain was presided over by Machuma Begum, a female leader of the VAW Network. In addition to the members of the VAW Network, leaders of women's organizations, members of the Youth Forum and Children's Forum, local government representatives, NGO workers and people from various professions participated in it.

Strong demand to stop violence against women The speakers in the human chain said that the incidents of rape, violence and torture of women are constantly increasing across the country, which is very worrying. The presence of such incidents has been observed recently in Kalapara Upazila too. The speakers strongly condemned the incident and said that violence against women will not stop unless the culture of impunity is stopped.

They also said that to ensure justice, strict law enforcement and exemplary punishment of the guilty must be ensured. At the same time, the speakers called for raising awareness at every level of society and taking effective steps to protect women.

The speakers demanded that strict measures be taken against rape, violence and torture of women across the country and speedy justice be ensured.
