
Illegal fishing nets worth Tk one million seized in Srinagar

Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized illegal fishing nets worth nearly one million taka in Srinagar, Munshiganj on Monday.
In a press release issued on Monday afternoon, Coast Guard media officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haque informed this.
According to the press release, acting on a tip-off, a joint operation was conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday in the Bagura area under Srinagar Police Station, Munshiganj. The operation was carried out by the Coast Guard Composite Station Padma, Shreepur Police Station, and RAB-10, in the presence of the Upazila Executive Magistrate and the Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer. During the raid, a fishing net manufacturing factory was searched, and 200 pieces of illegal “China Duari” nets worth approximately 1 million taka were seized.
The seized nets were later handed over to Srinagar Police Station by the Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer.
The Bangladesh Coast Guard stated that such operations will continue in the future to protect the country’s fish resources.
