Bangladesh Coast Guard has detained three criminals along with one bulkhead and one dredger for illegal sand extraction in Rangabali, Patuakhali on Thursday.
Lieutenant Rafid-as-Sami, Media Officer of the Coast Guard, provided this information on Thursday night.
The press release said, based on confidential information, a special operation was conducted on Thursday, 14 August 2025, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, in the area adjacent to Latachar under Rangabali Police Station, Patuakhali, by the Coast Guard outpost Rangabali and in the presence of the Upazila Executive Officer. During the operation, three criminals were arrested while illegally extracting sand along with one dredger and one bulkhead.
The seized dredger, bulkhead, and the arrested criminals were handed over to the Upazila Executive Officer for further legal action.
The Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue to carry out such operations in the future, the press release added.
