Miscreants hacked a youth to death and injured his friend at Pallabi in the capital on Saturday evening.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Faisal, 25, a resident of Pallabi’s Murapara Bihari Camp.

Mohammad Rashed, who was injured during the incident, is now undergoing treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Mokhlesur Rahman, Inspector (investigation) of Pallabi Police Station, told the Daily Sun that a case was filed in this regard.

He said, several suspects have been arrested and drive is also underway to arrest the others.

Nazmul Hasan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Pallabi Zone) of Mirpur Crime Division, said that eight criminals took part in the killing, which was filmed by CCTV camera.

Police said that Faisal and his friend participated in an iftar party at a community centre in Mirpur-12. After iftar, they were returning homes by an auto-rickshaw.

On the way, the killers stopped them in Block-C of Mirpur Section-12 and hacked both indiscriminately, leaving them in a pool of blood.

Later, they were rushed to the DMCH where the doctors declared Faisal dead.
