On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, a rally was held at Bamna in Barguna on Wednesday from the Upazila Parishad premises demanding increase in tobacco tax, ban on e-cigarettes, control of tobacco cultivation, location program and a discussion meeting was held.

With the cooperation of Bangladesh Anti-Tobacco Alliance, WBB Trust, Upazila Parishad and Task Force Committee, the development organization "Man for Man" (for man-manush) and Eklab, organized a procession and location program.

A discussion meeting was held on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer and President of Upazila Task Force Committee Antara Haldar was present as the chief guest in the discussion meeting.

Vice-Chairman Md. Altab Hossain Howladar, Rumi Khanam, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer and Task Force Committee Member Secretary Dr. Md. Moniruzzaman, Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Mainul Islam, Acting President of Awami League Md. Mosharraf Hossain Jamaddar were special guests. , Upazila Women Affairs Officer Zafrin Jahan, Principal Nikhil Chandra Poddar, Man for Man MA Matin Akand, Principal Shambhunath Bhowmik, Chairman Advocate Kamruzzaman Sagir, Saidur Rahman Sabuj, Md Nazrul Islam, Md Mizanur Rahman, Forest Officer Md Saidur Rahman Manik , General Editor of Bamna Press Club Md. Nasir Uddin Molla, photo journalist Devdas Majumdar, prominent businessman Ripon Chandra Saha, farmer Md. Shahjahan, laborer Md. Anwar Hossain, day laborer Md. Jasimuddin, school and college students and farmers, workers, businessmen, intellectuals and journalists were present.

In the meeting, they demanded extensive discussion and effective measures regarding the control of smoking and use of tobacco products, increase in tobacco tax, banning of e-cigarettes, control of tobacco cultivation and non-tobacco food production.
