Workshop to ensure safe living of children in Daulatdia sex village

In order to ensure the safe living of the children of Daulatdia sex village at Golanda upazila in Rajbari , Mukti Mahila Samity organized an advocacy issue sharing workshop at the district commissioner's conference room on Wednesday noon.

Rajbari Deputy Commissioner Abu Qaiser Khan spoke as the chief guest in the workshop.Rajbari Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen) Subarna Rani Saha presided over the workshop as special guests, Additional Superintendent of Police (Admin and Finance) Md Rezaul Karim, Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Ibrahim Titon and Goland Upazila Parishad Chairman Md Mostafa Munshi spoke.

At that time, Goualando Upazila Executive Officer Md. Zakir Hossain, Executive Director of Karmajeevi Kalyan Sansthan (KKS) Vir Muktijodha Fakir Abdul Jabbar, Deputy Director of District Social Services Department Rubaiyat Md. Ferdous, Deputy Director of Women Affairs Department Ajmir Hossain, Goaland Upazila Health andFamily Planning Officer Dr. Farsim Tarannum Haque, Upazila Youth Development Officer Tofail Ahmed, Headmaster of Daulatdia Model High School Muhammad Shahidul Islam, reserved women member of Daulatdia Union Parishad Champa Begum and woman leader of Singapalli Moni Begum were present.

Morjina Begum, executive director of Mukti Mahila Samiti (MMS), a non-governmental organization of Daulatdia, delivered the welcome speech at the workshop. Ataur Rahman Manju, program director of Private Women's Association of Daulatdia, presented the keynote speech at the event.

The organized workshop was attended by the heads of various government departments, journalists, NGO representatives, lawyers and other prominent persons of Rajbari district and upazila level.

Morjina Begum, executive director of Mukti Mahila Samiti, said in her welcome speech, I was an ordinary resident of this village. From there I struggled and returned to the enlightened life. Achieved National Victory Award. I don't want another child here to get lost in the blind alleys of the countryside. For that, we are implementing various programs through some donor organizations.

The chief guest of the event, Deputy Commissioner Abu Qaiser Khan said, "We do not want to leave anyone behind in the formation of Smart Bangladesh as announced by the Prime Minister." Be it a helpless woman or child of Purvapara (sex village).

Meanwhile, the district and upazila administrations have taken several steps for the welfare of women and children there. The benefits of which they are getting. They want to take effective action quickly on issues such as safe housing for children, multifaceted services for elderly women unable to earn, alternative employment and other issues. To decide what to do for this, an action plan will be decided soon with all the concerned departments at the upazila level.

It should be noted that in the largest Daulatdia sex village in the country, about 500 children are currently growing up at risk of safe housing crisis. There, they are always growing up under various kinds of adversities, including being engaged in sex work at an underage age, drug addicts, physical and mental torture. From this situation, it is necessary to build a safe housing system for their protection, education and normal development.
