The body of a mentally unstable woman named Shiuli Begum (38) has been recovered from Sundarganj, Gaibandha, 11 days after she went missing.

The body was recovered from the Burail River in Char Khodda area of Tarapur union of the upazila on Friday morning. Shiuli Begum is the wife of Md. Shariful Islam of Char Khodda village.

According to police and relatives, Shiuli Begum had been suffering from epilepsy for a long time and was mentally unstable. On December 9, at around 7 am, she left her house without informing anyone. After that, she did not return home. Later, her relatives searched everywhere but could not find her, so they filed a general diary with Sundarganj Police Station on December 15.

On Friday (December 19) morning, locals informed that a woman's body was lying under a bamboo bund on the Burail River. Upon receiving the news, relatives went to the spot and identified the body as that of Shiuli Begum.

The deceased's son, Md. Rejoan Mia, said that since his mother was suffering from epilepsy and was mentally unstable, it is believed that she may have fallen ill at some point during her disappearance and died by falling into the river. The family has not filed any complaints or suspicions against anyone in this incident.

Sundarganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Tajul Islam confirmed the matter and said, "Upon receiving the information, the body was recovered and an autopsy report was prepared. As there were no charges against anyone and following the request of the relatives, the body was handed over to the family."
