VWB beneficiary screening underway in Goalando through open process

The second phase of screening of VWD beneficiaries in four unions of Goalando Upazila of Rajbari has begun. On Monday (July 14), the screening process for wards 1 to 5 in four unions of the upazila began and on Tuesday, the screening of beneficiaries in wards 6 to 9 was completed. The two-day screening process was conducted by the heads of various departments of the upazila.
The program was inaugurated by the committee president UNO Md. Nahidur Rahman on Monday morning. Despite having to travel a long way from different wards to come to the Union Parishad to participate in the selection process, the applicants expressed satisfaction with the expectation of transparency.
Upazila Women's Affairs Officer Salma Begum said that this time a total of 5,844 beneficiaries have applied in four unions of the upazila, out of which a total of 2,220 beneficiaries will be selected after verification.
Those selected will receive 30 kg of rice per month for the next two years.
UNO Md. Nahidur Rahman said that to ensure transparency in the selection of beneficiaries, the verification and selection process is being conducted through direct interviews by the officials of the Upazila Committee as directed by the government.
He said that if a beneficiary is selected based on hidden information, false information, or any other dishonest means, if it later becomes public, that beneficiary will be removed from the list.
