Thakurgaon Correspondent
An orientation workshop for journalists was held on the occasion of the National Vitamin 'A' Plus Campaign-2025 on Thursday afternoon.
The workshop was organized at the initiative of the Civil Surgeon with journalists from various print and electronic media working in the district in the meeting room of this office.
Acting Civil Surgeon Dr. Abul Basar Saidur Rahman Sohag, Medical Officer Dr. Iftekhairul Islam, Acting President of Thakurgaon Press Club Lutfor Rahman Mithu, President of Thakurgaon Reporters Unity Abdul Latif Litu and journalists from various print and electronic media were present at the time.
It was informed in the workshop that on March 15, 236,100 children in Thakurgaon will be fed Vitamin A capsules. In order to eliminate malnutrition-related blindness from Bangladesh, prevent malnutrition-related child deaths and increase children's immunity, a national vitamin 'A' plus campaign will be held in Thakurgaon on March 15th, like the rest of the country.
The workshop also informed that from 9 am to 4 pm, vitamin 'A' capsules will be administered in 186 wards of municipalities and unions and 1,397 centers, and health messages including feeding curd to children will be disseminated.
Since children from 6 months to 5 years cannot be fed vitamin 'A' rich foods, A capsules are administered as a supplementary vitamin during this period. This builds the child's immunity. He sought the help of journalists to not broadcast any news that creates panic in public life and to conduct extensive publicity to make the national vitamin 'A' plus campaign successful and create public awareness.
