Villages flooded , road communication cut off in Juri

In Juri Upazila of Moulvibazar, numerous villages have been inundated due to continuous heavy rains and floods caused by landslides. The residents of Juri are affected by the third flood after the previous flood. About 32,000 people are without water due to the flood. Farmers are spending days in worry as 40 hectares of agricultural land is submerged in water.
On the surface, it can be seen that the flood-affected people are getting disorientated due to four consecutive days of rain and flash floods coming down from upstream (Dharmanagar and Kailashahar in India's Tripura) in various areas of Fultola, Sagarnal and Jaifarnagar Union of the upazila. Many people have taken refuge in shelters due to the collapse of their houses.
Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Konagaon village of Fultola Union, said that it started raining from Monday night, he woke up in the morning to find that the backyard and a part of the house were submerged in water. I took shelter with my family members in the dry part of the house. If the water rises, there will be no option but to go to the shelter.
Patilasangan Village of Sagarnal Union Resident Abdul Muhit Mutlib said, one week Earlier I had planted Aman paddy in 3 bigha land, it got submerged in flood. Almost all the farmers in our area have the same situation. I have given up the hope of bringing rice home. Most of the roads in the area, including the Juri-Botuli regional highway, have been submerged in water due to the flood and the traffic system is closed. Road communication with the eastern part of the upazila is cut off as a large area of the Juri-Lathitila road is submerged in water.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Bablu Sutradhar said that 40 villages of 6 unions of the upazila were flooded.
According to the latest information, about 32 thousand people of 6390 families are in the condition of water shortage. To deal with the flood situation, the upazila administration has opened 28 shelters and is serving dry food to the families coming to the shelters.
