Villagers excited as the road works completed after 52 years in Chilmari

After 52 years of independence, soil filling work has started on an unpaved road in Chilmari upazila of Kurigram through the Rural Infrastructure Reform (Kabita) programme. The locals are excited saying that this will reduce the suffering.
It is known that the road had become impassable for a long time in the area of Vita Seeduld Kast High School in Mudafthana Bell of Ramna Union of the upazila. Due to the low level of the road, movement of pedestrians and local residents is disrupted during floods. A little rain would cause flooding.
According to the Upazila Project Implementation Office, under the Rural Infrastructure Reform (Kabita) project in the fiscal year 2022-2023, Tk 6 lakh has been allocated for soil filling on the 800 feet road from Ershadul's shop to Lal Mia Mistry's house on the west side of Mudafthana High School.
Local resident Eblach Uddin said that the road has been impassable for a long time. I have never seen any work on this road in 55 years of my life. The road was knee-deep in light rain. It was very difficult to move. About two and a half to three hundred families live here. Again thousands of pedestrians travel through this road. We are happy that the road work has started. If it rains now, you don't have to take off your knee-clothes and walk.
Lalmia and Ershadul Islam said that even after so long, the work of our road has started. When the work is done we will get the benefits by moving. The suffering of pedestrians will be reduced.
UP member concerned. Rafiqul Islam Babu said that the people of this area have been suffering from the public road for a long time. I tried to do the job. Finally the road work has started through Kabita project. Now local people along with pedestrians are very happy.
Ramana Model Union Parishad Chairman. Golam Ashek Aka said that the road has not been worked for a long time. There was an expectation of the local people, so we started the soil filling work through the Kabita project under the union council. InshAllah I will carpet or weld the road in the future.
Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Md. Mosharof Hossain said that waterlogging was created with little rain water. Many problems to move people In the last current fiscal year, soil filling work has started on the road through the project with the cooperation of the chairman and member of the concerned union.
