View exchange meeting on integrated management, restoration of Teesta River in Kurigram

A meeting with stakeholders on the proposed project titled Integrated Management and Restoration of Teesta River in Kurigram was held at the district conference room on Thursday afternoon.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Nusrat Sultana and was attended by Mahbubur Rahman, Chief Engineer of PAUBO Rangpur Zone, Ahsan Habib, Supervising Engineer of PAUBO Rangpur Circle, Maqbul Hossain, Representative Consultant of Power China, and Rakibul Hasan, Executive Engineer of Kurigram Water Development Board, and other officials.
Also present were District BNP Member Secretary Alhaj Sohel Hossain Kaikobad, District Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Abdul Matin Farooqui, and District BNP Joint Convener Shafiqul Islam Bebu.
At this time, the Chinese representative said that we are working towards the rapid implementation of the Teesta Master Plan.
During this time, the PAUBO authorities carefully listened to the opinions of leaders and the general public from various upazilas of the district and recorded them in writing.
District BNP Joint Convener Shafiqul Islam Bebu said that the Teesta Master Plan should be implemented quickly without further delay in the name of public opinion exchange.
Shahidul Islam, a local resident of Gharial Danga Union in Rajarhat Upazila, said, "How long will we have to bear the losses due to the Teesta erosion? We are seeking the good will of the higher authorities to implement this grand plan quickly."
