Victims' complaints at press confce : Attack, shooting at businessman's house , police release Jubo League leader in exchange for money in Rupganj

A shooting and attack occurred at the house of a businessman named Milon Haji in Rupganj, Narayanganj due to a land dispute. It has been alleged that a Jubo League leader named Raihan Kabir Suman was arrested at that time and released by the police in exchange for money.
The incident took place at 10 pm on Wednesday in the Khadun area of Tarab Municipality of the upazila. The victim, Milon Haji, filed a complaint with the Rupganj Police Station as a plaintiff in this incident. The victims made this complaint at a press conference at the Rupganj Press Club in Murapara Matherghat area on Thursday afternoon.
Victim Milon Haji said that he is in possession of a two-story house built on 7.5 percent of the land in the Khadun area. Local Awami League leader Jahangir Kabir Bhuiyan, Jubo League leader Raihan Kabir Bhuiyan and Suman Mia had been trying to forcibly occupy my land for some time. On Wednesday evening, 15/20 people, including those Awami League leaders, armed with pistols, ramdas and chapatis, attacked and vandalized Milan Haji's house.
Later, the attackers fired a few rounds at the house and left. When the locals informed the police, the police, including Sub-Inspector (SI) of Rupganj Police Station, Kamrul Islam, went to the spot. When the attackers left, the locals arrested Jubo League leader Raihan Kabir Suman and handed him over to the police. Later, at around 10 pm, the police, including SI Kamrul, released Jubo League leader Suman in exchange for a large sum of money. After this news spread, anger is prevailing among the locals. The locals have expressed their anger at the police.
Although the accused Raihan Kabir Sumon was contacted on his mobile phone in this regard, his phone was not found switched off.
In this regard, Rupganj Police Station Sub-Inspector Kamrul Islam said, the allegation of taking money and releasing him is completely false and fabricated. Raihan Kabir Sumon called 999. I went to rescue him. He is not an accused.
When Rupganj Police Station OC Liaqat Ali was contacted on his mobile phone, he did not receive the call.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Circle Mehedi Islam said, such allegations are false and fabricated.
