College student stabbed to death in Cumilla , killers at large

A College student Md. Shafiullah (18), who was stabbed while playing badminton in Cumilla , has died. He died at the Cumilla Medical College Hospital around 9 pm on Thursday while undergoing treatment. The deceased Shafiullah was the son of Ershad Mia, a dub seller from Paschim Brahmanpara village of the district. He was a student of the 11th class of the humanities department of Mosharraf Hossain Khan Chowdhury College in the Upazila Sadar.
He was buried in the family graveyard on Friday afternoon after the autopsy. According to police and local sources, on Thursday, college student Sanaullah and Zahirul Islam's son Hridoy from the same area had an argument and a fight over a badminton game in the upazila headquarters. At some point, Hridoy led by 6/7 of his associates stabbed Shafiullah in public and fled.
He was rescued and first taken to Brahmanpara Health Complex and later to Cumilla Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where he died during treatment at night. Meanwhile, after the body was taken home after the autopsy on Friday, college teachers and classmates rushed to the scene.
At that time, Shafiullah's father lamented, "Did my son get killed over a small game? They killed my son in a planned manner. My son did not commit any crime. I had worked hard to get him admitted to college. I had many dreams about him. He demanded the hanging of the killers.
Brahmanpara Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Thomas Barua that the initial investigation revealed that the murder took place over a dispute over a badminton game. The college student's father, Ershad Mia, has filed a case against Hridoy as the main accused and 3 others and 4/5 others who are unknown. He also said that Hridoy's mother has been detained for questioning. The police are conducting a drive to arrest those involved in the murder.
