Various events in Habiganj demanding habitable world

Children and teenagers gatherings, discussions, various competitions and exhibitions were held for the demand of a habitable world. On the occasion of World Environment Day, Khoai River Waterkeeper, Planetaires Club Habiganj and Dharitri Raksha Amara organized this exceptional program on the premises of Birds KG & High School in Habiganj on Wednesday.

In the event, the students made and displayed various samples of environmental destruction including environmental quiz competition, drawing pictures of the present speech, making festoons of different environmental slogans.

Sixth standard student Zerina Khanam Swarna and her team presented a sample project on trees to protect the environment. They say - due to the cutting down of the oxygen store trees that keep us alive, the environment and the fauna are being harmed immensely.

Varsha and his team presented samples of how the air, soil and water are being polluted due to the pollution of the factories by the students of the same class. The presentation states that children do not pollute the environment. But children are the most affected due to environmental pollution. Playing in the playground next to the house or swimming in the river is not allowed due to pollution.

Many of our animals are going extinct. Birds are disappearing especially due to various crises including habitat. We have to save the birds for ourselves. The 6th class student was impressed by bringing two big birds himself.

Students including Nidrik of 2nd class, Saiful Islam of 6th class, Swarna, Barsha Muskan, Dighi, Zarinur Toha of 7th class, Maisha, Samia, Rimu, Nasiba, Srabanti, Mousi, Zaian, Nishi, Saima Akhtar of 8th class presented different examples of environmental destruction in habitable world. Claim.

From the presentation of the students, this hot lady especially demanded to stop the man-made environment destructive activities to protect our country and to take care of all kinds of natural resources including trees, ponds, rivers, reservoirs.

"I will restore the land, prevent desertification; Drought tolerance must be achieved.” With the theme “I want a livable world, Shishu – Kishore Rally and Padarshani” was presided over by Khoai River Waterkeeper Tofazzal Sohail. The guest of honor was eminent educationist former principal of Brindavan Government College environmental organizer Professor Md Ikramul Wadud, founder president of Habiganj Press Club Advocate Mansoor Uddin Ahmed Iqbal, principal of Bads KG & High School Noor Uddin Jahangir. Environmental activist Saiful Islam, teacher Prabha Dev, Janmjoy Das, Kawsar Ahmed and others spoke under the direction of teacher Sajib Chandra Gop and Sadia Arfin Ricky.

Khoai River Waterkeeper Tofazzal Sohail said that it is the responsibility of the people to keep the world alive that is taking the world to the brink of destruction in many ways. Storms, floods, droughts, heat waves are more man-made than natural. In various ways we have disrupted this habitable world of ours. We are far from making this land habitable, day by day it is becoming uninhabitable.

Tofazzal Sohel, the main reservoir of rain water in Habiganj, the 5 km long old Khoai river is demarcated, cleared and excavated to open waterways, footpaths on both banks of the river, seating areas, greening, other rivers including Sutang river, canals, ditches, industrial waste in water bodies. He demanded protection of ponds, rivers and water bodies to stop pollution and balance waterlogging and groundwater levels.
