Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed has said the use of digital system would expedite the process of sending employees abroad.

"The purpose of sending employees abroad through digital method is to send them quickly. The digitization will help us reduce the number of steps in sending workers abroad," he said.

The minister said these as the chief guest while addressing the launching ceremony of digitization of the Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) Service organized by BMET at a city hotel here on Thursday, a press release said on Thursday.

Speaking as special guest on the occasion, State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina always maintains an environment suitable for doing business in the country.

"If private institutions work alongside government institutions, Bangladesh will move forward quickly," he added.

Mentioning that agriculture, garments and remittance are the backbone of the country's economy, he said with the help of these three strengths, Bangladesh is able to identity itself as a strong middle-income country.

The state minister further thanked the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment as it is using smart processes to conduct activities.

"Today's digitalization of BMET service like 'Ami Probashi' app is a big proof of that," he said.

BMET Director General Shahidul Alam gave the welcome speech in the programme with Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Dr Ahmed Munirus Saleheen, in the chair.
