
UP chairman of Awami League in Madan suspended over corruption

The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Local Government Department UP Section -1 has issued a notice temporarily suspending heroic freedom fightet Musleh Uddin Bhuiyan, Chairman of Naikpur Union of Madan Upazila of Netrokona, due to irregularities and corruption.
It is learnt that Musleh Uddin Bhuiyan was the chairman of Naikpur Union from 2003 to June 2011. Even at that time, there were countless allegations of irregularities and corruption against him.In 2008, he was jailed for selling 2,000 kg of rice in the black market.
In the election held on January 5, 2022, he was defeated for the position of chairman with the boat symbol.But after 5 months, when the elected chairman Habibur Rahman died in a road accident, he was re-elected as the chairman with the boat symbol in the by-election.
Ever since he was elected, the officials and employees are fed up with the irregularities, corruption and reckless activities.He fixed fees for all types of services. Excluding the actual beneficiaries, various allowances were given in the name of wealthy individuals in exchange for money, and the beneficiaries of nature were being deprived of the government's assistance. Referring to these issues, some victims including UP members Hadis Mia, Elai Mia and Salim Mia submitted a written complaint to the higher authorities in June 2023.
In view of the complaints filed by the victims and members of UP, the Deputy Commissioner formed the inquiry committee. As the the complaint was proved primarily after several rounds of investigation, the concerned ministry temporarily suspended the chairman of Naikpur Union, Musleh Uddin Bhuiyan, through a notification on November 7.
