Unadulterated date molasses is being produced commercially in Gobindaganj, Gaibandhar. The taste of this date jaggery produced is similar to that of other famous producing districts of the country, so the demand has increased. Locals are happy to get high quality unadulterated real date molasses right next to their house.

Jashore, Faridpur, Rajshahi and Natore are the top producing districts of date jaggery in the country, but now jaggery is being produced commercially from the juice of date trees in Gobindaganj as well. 5/7 years ago first out of curiosity: molasses production was started by collecting juice from 104 palm trees owned by government fish seed production farm in Bardhankuthi of Gobindaganj municipal area.

As jaggery quality is good, unadulterated jaggery is now being produced here every year during the winter season. Locals are happy to buy unadulterated date jaggery from here. Apart from this, many people come from the surrounding area to buy unadulterated date molasses from here.

Abdul Mannan of Fhansithal of the upazila is the main entrepreneur in making molasses from this date palm juice. He said that professional palm molasses (plant) workers have been brought from Rajshahi to make molasses from the juice of these trees taken in oral agreement. They divide the palm trees into two parts and collect 300 to 400 liters of juice from one part of these trees every day after 3 days.

Then starting from early morning, the collected juice is burnt in a furnace to produce 25 to 30 kg jaggery. No chemicals or adulterants are used in making these jaggery. Gachi Jummon Mia from Rajshahi said that the soil here is good, so the quality of date palm juice is also very good. That's why good quality jaggery is being made here. He claimed that the taste and sweetness of jaggery produced is better than the jaggery of famous jaggery producing districts of the country.

Abbas Miah of Fasitla who came to buy jaggery said that it is very good and free from adulteration. So like every time I came here to buy date molasses for making pitha pies.

Gobindaganj Upazila Agricultural Worker Syed Reza I Mahmud said that in this upazila, sugarcane or date juice is collected and produced in a healthy way to produce jaggery in this upazila. By doing this, besides getting financial benefits, they are becoming independent.
