Two suspected muggers were apprehended alongside cash, mobile phones, and narcotics during a night patrol by Bangladesh Ansar personnel in the Kawla residential area adjacent to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport early Wednesday.
An Ansar patrol team led by Assistant Private Commander (APC) Mohammad Nasir Uddin and Abu Sayeed, alongside members Hasan, Rajib, and Shahjahan, spotted two suspicious individuals near the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) water pump during early morning hours. Sensing the presence of law enforcement, the suspects attempted to flee, prompting Ansar personnel to chase and detain them.
The detainees were identified as Rafiq Mia, 24, and Jafar Mia, 29. Search operations yielded Tk 6,000 in cash, two mobile phones, and illegal narcotics in their possession.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspects had planned to intercept auto-rickshaws operating during late hours to rob passengers. The detained individuals and seized items were subsequently handed over to Airport Police Station for further legal proceedings.
The successful operation reflects the continued vigilance and dedication of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party members deployed at key installations across the country.
