
Trawler sinks in Khulna, Coast Guard rescues 90 wedding guests

The Coast Guard has rescued 90 wedding guests from a trawler that sank at Kalibari pier in Nalian, Khulna, says a press release of Bangladesh Coast Guard.
At 8:30 pm on Monday, a trawler carrying 90 wedding guests, which left from Kanakhali under Paikgachha police station in Khulna district, reached the area adjacent to Kalibari pier when it collided with a lighter ship and sank. As a result, the 90 wedding guests in the trawler started floating in the water. Upon receiving information about the accident, a rescue team from BCG Outpost Nalian under the West Zone of Bangladesh Coast Guard immediately reached the spot by boat and was able to rescue all the passengers alive with the help of locals.
The rescued passengers expressed gratitude to the Coast Guard for the successful rescue operation in a short time.
Later, the wedding party departed for their next destination, Arakhali village under Dakop police station, in another trawler.
Such rescue operations by the Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue in the future.
