An emergency meeting of Greater Jainta's Towhidi Janata and Maymurubbian was held to protest Facebook abuse against the late Mujahideen Millat Hazrat Allama Sheikh Abdullah (RA) Haripuri, a creative son of the traditional Haripur area of Jaintapur, Sylhet.

On Monday at around 10 am, an emergency meeting was held at the Haripur Bazar Madrasa ground with Shaykh Ismail Ali (Shyampuri) in the chair.

Maulana Joynal Abedin, teacher of Haripur Bazar Madrasa, former mayor of Sylhet City Corporation Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Shaykhul Hadith Shaykh Alim Uddin (Durlavpuri) of Kanaighat Madrasa, Muhtamim Maulana Mokhlesur Rahman (Rajaganji) of Jamia Islamia Ayesha Siddika Madrasa, Khatib Maulana Mustaq Ahmed Khan of Bandar Bazar Jame Mosque, Muhtamim Maulana Shaykh Hilal Ahmed of Haripur Bazar Madrasa, Mufti Nurul Haque (Zakiganji), former chairman of 5th Chatul U/P Maulana Abul Hossain (Chatuli), chairman of 2nd Jaintapur U/P Alhaj Fakhrul were present and spoke. Islam, Muhtamim Maulana Abdul Jabbar of Lamni Gram Madrasa and Mufti Zillur Rahman (Qasemi) of Hemu Madrasa also spoke.

Former convener of Jaintapur Upazila BNP and former chairman of Fatehpur U/P No. 5 Abdul Matin, president of Upazila BNP and former U/P chairman Abdur Rashid, former general secretary of Upazila BNP and former vice chairman of Upazila Parishad Mohibul Haque Muhib, chairman of Fatehpur U/P No. 5 Rafiq Ahmed, U/P members Ilias Ali Saju, Rafiq Ahmed, Abdul Matin, Faruk Ahmed, Matiur Rahman, eminent cleric Alhaj Alauddin, Abdul Haque member, Nurul Islam Kalai, Abdur Rahim, Anwar Hossain, Zakaria, former president of Haripur Bazar Business Committee Helal Ahmed, Md. Abdullah, organizing secretary Abdul Mutlib, Jubo Dal leader Ali Haider Saymon, prominent businessman Azizur Rahman, Lokman Ahmed, along with social and political leaders of greater Jainta and all-round Towhidi were present.

In their speech, the speakers said that a person named Jamal Hussain, a resident of Bardesh Uttar area of Banigram Union No. 7 of Kanaighat Upazila and currently living in Shahparan Shanti Bhag area, along with his alleged Jamaat leader, his Sangupangu Ashfaq, Jasim Uddin, had posted a status on the social media Facebook criticizing renowned scholars of Greater Sylhet. In protest, the Greater Jainta Towhidi Janata Alem Samaj and Maymurubbian gave them an ultimatum to apologize, but since they have not apologized yet, they have called for a morning and evening blockade in Greater Jainta on Thursday.

All the Maymurubbians and all the Towhidi Janata related to Greater Jainta have warned of a strict program movement across Greater Sylhet if the miscreant does not come out in public and apologize. After that, the meeting ended with an hour-long protest procession at 2 pm.
