
Tk. 70,000 fined for cutting, selling soil in crop land in Goalando

The upazila administration seized three drum trucks with driver and vekur battery with driver for cutting soil from crop land in Rajbari district and selling and transporting it to various places including brick kilns.
On Wednesday at around 11 o'clock in the Keutil area of Chhota Vakla Union of the upazila, 3 drum trucks, 3 drivers, vekur drivers and vekur batteries were seized and brought to the upazila while cutting soil from the crop land.
Goalando Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Joti Bikas Chandra said that 3 drum trucks with soil carrying drivers, batteries with vehicular drivers were seized in an operation to prevent illegal extraction of soil from agricultural land without permission and to ensure the safety of life and property on the road and prevent damage to the road.
Later, in mobile court, the owner of 3 trucks was fined 60,000 taka and the owner of the vehicle was fined 70,000 taka, and they were warned with a bond not to cut and sell any crop land, pond soil without permission.
He also said that no soil or sand can be cut and sold from different areas of the upazila day or night. The upazila administration has always kept a strict watch on this matter. Besides, he warned the farmers that those who are involved in using soil and dredging will be arrested and punished severely. This campaign will continue in public interest.
A team of Goalando Ghat police station participated in the operation.
