Titumir College students block road demanding university status

The students of Government Titumir College in the capital have staged a roadblock demanding the transformation of their institution into an independent university along with six other demands.
They blocked the road in front of the college as part of their protest on Thursday afternoon.
Earlier on Wednesday evening, they began a hunger strike. During this time, the students placed seven demands.
The seven-point demands of the protesting students under the platform "Titumir Unity" are:
Official recognition of Titumir University and publication of its academic calendar.
Formation of the Titumir University administration and commencement of admissions for the 2024-25 session.
Ensuring 100% residential facilities for students or, alternatively, covering 100% of residential expenses immediately.
Introduction of at least two internationally recognized subjects, such as Law and Journalism, from the 2024-25 academic year.
Recruitment of qualified PhD-holding faculty to enhance the quality of education.
Limiting student intake to maintain educational standards.
Allocation of land and financial resources to establish an international-standard research lab.
