
Three killed in Barishal road accidents

Three people were killed and 20 others injured in two separate road accidents at Ujirpur and Babuganj upazilas in Barishal district on Wednesday.
In Ujirpur upazila, a Barishal bound Chaklader Paribahan's passneger bus from Jashore ran over a pedestrian near Sanuhar bus stand area around 1.00pm and overturned into a roadside ditch, leaving an another passenger of the bus dead on the spot and 14 others critically injured.However, the identities of the two deceased could not be known immediately, reports our Barishal correspondent.
Ujirpur Police Station officer-in-charge Md Jafor Ahmed confirmed the deaths of two people, adding that, the bus driver managed to flee the scene and legal actions were being taken in this regard.
In Babuganj upazila, a former UP chairman was killed and six others were injured when a shallow-engine run three wheeler lost control over the steering of the vehicle and hit a roadside pillar.
The deceased was identified as Md Sayedur Rahman, 75, a former chairman of Koyaria Union Parishad under Kalkini upazila in Madaripur district.
Babuganj Fire Service Station official Zahidul Islam confirmed the death matter and said that legal actions will be taken in this regard.
