Thailand's consumer inflation growth quickened in August, hitting a new 14-year high, fueled by surging energy and food prices, data showed on Monday, Xinhua reported.
The country's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, rose 7.86 percent year on year last month, the highest level since July 2008, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
The growth accelerated from July's 7.61-percent rise. On a monthly basis, the CPI edged up 0.05 percent from the previous month in August.
