The people of Tetli Union No. 3 of South Surma Upazila in Sylhet district have been deprived of civil services for a long time. In the past, it was a bit of a hassle to get civil services including birth registration, death certificate, but nowadays these services are being completed correctly and quickly all over the country. But the people of Tetli Union are deprived of that service. The officials said that there is no secretary when the Union Parishad goes for urgent needs. School, college students need birth certificate for admission. The parents are returning from the union council.

It is learnt that the secretary of Tetli Union Parishad Jannatul Ferdous, has not been coming to the union since the last 6 months. Other officers of the union are also not serving the people without the signature of the secretary. Students of the area who are preparing to go abroad are in trouble. Therefore, without finding any way, they are running in various illegal ways.

Rabel Ahmed, a resident of Banesh-arpur village of Tetli Union, said that he has been coming to the Union Parishad for revision of birth registration for a long time. But I could not correct my birth certificate as there is no secretary. It hurts me a lot.

Muhammad Ali of Baldi village said that the birth registration which was there, that registration is not in the server. I have been coming from the Union Parishad for a long time. But the workers repeatedly said that there is no secretary. I am being harassed by this.

Tetli Union Parishad Chairman Oliur Rahman said that the secretary did not come to the office for 6 months. I have always informed the District Commissioner for the Union residents. But no action has been taken so far. So the citizens of the Union are having trouble getting services.

Dakshin Surma Upazila Executive Officer Urmi Roy said that the matter of the secretary is under administrative process. A new secretary will come soon.
