Teens arrested for TikTok video near India-Bangladesh Border, return safely

Indian border guards (BSF) arrested two Bangladeshis—16-year-old Mahfuz Islam from Lalmonirhat and 22-year-old Sajedul Islam on Friday from Bogura—for secretly entering India to film a TikTok video near the Lalmonirhat border. Locals reported them to Bangladesh border forces (BGB), who quickly coordinated with BSF.
After 9 hours talks between top officers, the pair was returned to Bangladesh via a "flag meeting" on May 3. BGB confirmed they were treated well, medically checked, and handed over to their families. Local leaders and police were present during the transfer.
Both sides warned residents not to cross the border or enter restricted areas. Officials called this an isolated incident, highlighting strong India-Bangladesh border cooperation. Experts stress that border violations can lead to serious risks, urging locals to follow safety rules.
