Some teachers of Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) are demanding the resignation of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shah Alimuzzaman, alleging corruption, discriminatory practices in job promotions, etc.

Their first move to demand his resignation occurred on August 25. Following this, they held a press conference on August 27, where they outlined several allegations, pointing to various problems and inconsistencies, and called for the Vice-Chancellor to step down. The teachers recently issued a combined statement reiterating their demand for his resignation.

Among the teachers demanding the Vice-Chancellor's resignation are Dr. Md. Zulhash Uddin, Head of the Department of Wet Process Engineering; Dr. Shekh Md. Mamun Kabir, Associate Professor of the same department; Dr. Shaikh Md. Mominul Alam, Head of the Textile Machinery Design and Maintenance Department; Prof. Dr. Md. Mashiur Rahman Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Fashion Design and Apparel Engineering; Prof. Dr. Md. Masum, Dean of the Faculty of Textile Management and Business Studies; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ali from the Industrial and Production Engineering Department; Md. Kawsarul Islam, Assistant Professor of the Mathematics and Statistics Department, among others.

In their joint statement, the teachers highlighted allegations of the Vice-Chancellor's malpractices, political bias, and autocratic behavior.

Md. Kawsarul Islam, Assistant Professor of the Mathematics and Statistics Department, commented on their movement, stating, 'We are not standing against any individual; we are standing against discrimination. We want to change the system. We hope that a new Vice-Chancellor will be appointed who will run the university in a disciplined manner.'

Despite the teachers' movement, general students have voiced their opposition to those calling for the Vice-Chancellor's resignation. The students argue that the current administration is trying to making efforts to meet all demands, and they do not want the Vice-Chancellor to resign.
