Teacher sold govt primary books in Habiganj

Seventy kg new books of different classes of government primary schools of the current academic year were found in a mobile shop (van car) in Nasharatpur of Shaistaganj upazila of Habiganj on Tuesday.

The books were seized by Upazila Primary Education Officer Mohammad Ali after receiving information from the locals.

According to the source, Ayesha Akhtar, head teacher of Kadmatoli Register Primary School of the upazila, sold the books to the scrap dealer for 20 taka per kg and sold 70 kg of books for 1 thousand 400 taka.

Bhangari Traders The books were caught by the locals when they went for sale at a wholesale Bhangari shop opposite Nachartarpur Maa filling station.

Upazila Primary Education Officer Mohammad Ali confirmed the seizure of books and said that various books of 1st-5th class have been seized. After investigation, action will be taken against the head teacher. Ayesha Akhter, the head teacher of that school, could not be contacted.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Najratun Naeem said that education officers and police have been sent after receiving information about the incident.

An attempt will be made to call the accused teacher and Bhangari dealer to the UNO office to find out about this.
