As announced by the Election Commission, the upcoming Tajumuddin Upazila Parishad elections will be held in the 3rd phase. Ahead of the election, campaigning, mass communication, and polling are in full swing.

According to the upazila election office, the last date for submission of nomination papers is May 2, 2024. Scrutiny of nomination papers on May 5. The date of appeal against the Returning Officer in selection of nomination papers is May 6-8. Appeal disposal May 9-11. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is 12th May. Allotment of symbols is on 13th May. Upazila Parishad elections will be held on May 29.The total number of voters in this upazila is 1 lakh 3 thousand 388 people. Male 53 thousand 7 hundred 40 people. 49 thousand 6 hundred 48 women.

In view of the upcoming Upazila Parishad elections, campaigning is going on from morning to night through showdowns, processions and public meetings, courtyard meetings of rival chairman, vice chairman, female vice chairman candidates.

The campaigns of the potential candidates, especially the chairman candidates, are eye-opening.He is trying to build relations with the voters by going to different bazaars and introducing the candidates. Some are trying to woo voters by participating in local religious, social and political activities. The entire Tajumaddin Upazila has become involved in such campaigns of potential candidates.

Meanwhile, as the elections are approaching, the activists and supporters of the candidate are also campaigning on the social media Facebook for prayers for the person of their choice. As yard meetings were held in different unions, the upazila's market and other important places are getting busy.

The candidates for the post of male vice chairman are- the current upazila parishad vice chairman and joint general secretary of the upazila Awami League Mohiuddin Poddar, organizing secretary Amin Mahajan, former convenor of Shambhupur Union Dakshin Chhatra League Hasnain Muhammad (shohel), organizing secretary of the upazila Jubo League Md Alauddin Faraji, engineering builders. Chief Engineer Md. Faysal Ahmed.

Candidates for the post of Women Vice Chairman are - Current Upazila Parishad Women Vice Chairman and Upazila Women Awami League President Kohinur Begum Shila, Youth Women League Joint Convener Hanufa Akhtar Rupa, Fatema Begum Saju, Mosammat Kaye Phul Begum Shah.

It can be seen on the surface of Tajumaddin Upazila, since the announcement of the schedule, the election wind has started blowing in all the unions of the upazila. Candidates, candidate's workers-supporters and common people are affected by election wind. However, there is no end to the complaints of the common people about the vote.

According to them, when the elections come, only the leaders step into remote towns. As the election approaches, the traffic of candidates and their supporters increases. When the election is over, these leaders no longer keep track of us. However, this year's election will be an election to check the popularity of the candidates, they said.
