With the slogan “Let the road be a path of peace, not of death,” a student gathering was held in Rupganj, Narayanganj, to raise awareness about road safety among students. The event was organized by Nirapad Sarak Chai (NISCHA) as part of the month-long programs marking National Road Safety Day 2025, celebrated nationwide by NISCHA’s district branches.
The gathering took place on Saturday morning at the auditorium of Jamia Hashemia Imdadul Ulum Nahati Madrasa in the Nahati area of Bhulta Union under Rupganj upazila.
The meeting was presided over by Mufti Imdadul Hashemi, head of the madrasa. Among others who spoke were Jaman Mia, General Secretary of NISCHA Narayanganj District Committee; Nazrul Islam, social worker; Md. Golam Sadek, Vice-President; Sohel Kiran, Joint Secretary and journalist; Hafizur Rahman, Office Secretary; Ramzan Mridha, Publication Secretary; and Habibullah, Executive Member.
Speakers at the event said that every year thousands of people lose their lives in road accidents across the country, while many others become permanently disabled. “A single accident can bring lifelong sorrow,” they said. “The victims are not the only sufferers — their families also endure immense pain and hardship. If everyone follows traffic rules and remains aware, road accidents can be significantly reduced.”
Later, a special prayer was offered for all those who have died or been injured in road accidents across the country.
