Steps needed to protect Nawabganj historic 'Sur' mosque

The historic Sur Mosque at Telipara in Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur has been in a deplorable conditions for a long time and now th he main structure of the mosque is being destroyed due to lack of maintenance.
The mosque is located 11 miles north of Upazila Sadar and south of Mahmudpur Union Parishad
The ancient mosque is located at a place called Telipara in the village of Halaizana. According to the locals, it was Jinrai who built the mosque five hundred years ago.
There are different opinions about the construction period of Sur Mosque. Some call this mosque the Solar Mosque. Again someone said Surah Masjid. To some, this mosque is also known as Shah Shuja Mosque. This historical indicator is known to everyone by name.
Looking at the craftsmanship and style of the mosque, one can imagine that it was built in the late fifteenth century during the Sultanate period. There are three doors on the wall, and three arches on the west wall.
The mosque has three small round domes. The walls of the brick mosque are engraved with various hand-made scenes, and the walls are adorned with innumerable carved terracotta ornaments. The square dome above.
The builders did not fail to enhance the beauty of the mosque. Seeing the style of its construction, the idea of the experienced Mahal is that it was built during the Mughal period.
Locals said, "We have been hearing the history of this mosque from our ancestors." The Shuja Mosque will be more than 400 years old. It is a mosque of the Sultanate period. I heard from my grandfathers that the mosque was built overnight by Allah.
Halaijana madrasa principal. Shamsul Haque told reporter RK Osman Ali that even though the mosque was built a long time ago, prayers were not offered there. In other words, the mosque has been abandoned for many years. At present, nothing happens in the mosque premises except the two Eid prayers of the year. This ancient mosque is in a completely unprotected state. At present the walls of the mosque are going to be destroyed along with the carvings outside the walls of the mosque.
Md. Telipara village. Rahenul Islam said the elders of the area said that the mosque was built in one night. However, no one knows when and who built this mosque. He said the mosque needed to be renovated quickly.
Local people expect that the Archaeology Department will take necessary steps to protect the ancient mosque.
