The steering committee meeting for organizing the Prime Minister's Gold Cup National Football Competition 2026 was held on.Monday at the meeting room of the Ministry of Education.

The National Steering Committee meeting of the Prime Minister's Gold Cup Tournament was held under the chairmanship of Minister of Education and Primary and Mass Education Dr. Ehsanul Haque Milon.

The meeting discussed in detail the preparations for the nationwide football tournament to be held in September. Schools , colleges , madrasas , and technical educational institutions will participate in this competition, organized with the participation of students from classes 6 to 12 of the country. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to inaugurate the competition as the chief guest in September.

The meeting was attended by Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan , Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu , State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam , State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque , State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md. Shariful Alam , Prime Minister's Office Spokesperson and Advisor Mahdi Amin, and secretaries and officials of various ministries.

It was informed in the meeting that this competition is being organized with the aim of promoting sports among students , finding talented players , and ensuring enjoyable education. Each educational institution will have one opportunity for male students and a fixed number for female students to participate.

At the meeting, Dr. Ehsanul Haque Milon said , Prime Minister's Gold Cup National Football Competition is one of the biggest sports events in the history of Bangladesh. It will play an important role in developing the talent , mindset , leadership qualities , discipline and team spirit of the students. This is being organized with the aim of ensuring that students from remote areas of the country can also showcase their talents at the national level with equal opportunities . At the same time, the Education Minister thanked the ministers and state ministers of the concerned ministries for their overall cooperation in organizing this competition.

It was informed in the meeting that for this competition, logos , reels , mascots , slogans and theme songs have been invited from teachers and students of educational institutions under the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education . Prizes will also be distributed among the winners of the competition for creating logos , reels , mascots , slogans and theme songs.

The meeting also discussed field preparation , security , publicity and administrative coordination. The concerned ministries were instructed to take necessary steps according to their respective responsibilities.

At the press conference after the meeting, Prime Minister's Education Advisor and Prime Minister's Office Spokesperson Mahdi Amin said , "We want a festive atmosphere to be created across the country. The Prime Minister has always said that the future education system will be one where the talent , mindset and creativity of our students will be revealed. For that purpose, the Sports Ministry , the Culture Ministry and the Education Ministry will jointly organize various programs and competitions throughout the year across the country."
