Six traffickers detained by Coast Guard with electronic devices in Chattogram

Six traffickers have been detained by the Coast Guard along with electronic devices while being trafficked illegally to Myanmar from Patenga, Chattogram on Thursday. 

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-Ar-Rashid informed this in a press release   on Friday 

Based on secret information, on May 8, 2025, at 4:00 AM, a special operation was conducted by Bangladesh Coast Guard Outpost Patenga in the area adjacent to the KAFCO Jetty on the Karnaphuli Channel under Patenga Police Station of Chattogram district. During the operation, a suspicious wooden boat was searched and 10 modern walkie-talkie sets, 10 walkie-talkie chargers, 2 submersible pumps, 1 Samsung tab, and 1 engine-run wooden boat used for trafficking were recovered. Six traffickers were detained. Preliminary interrogation revealed that the traffickers had long been involved in illegal trafficking activities.

Detained traffickers.are : Md  Saiful (30), a resident of Cox’s Bazar, and Md. Akkas (30), Md. Lokman (45), Md. Jasim (35), Md. Motahar (62), Md. Ibrahim (25), residents of Bhola.

Subsequently, the detained accused were handed over to Karnaphuli Police Station, and legal procedures regarding the seized goods are underway.

The Bangladesh Coast Guard maintains 24-hour patrols to keep the country’s law and order situation stable. Through this, the law and order situation in coastal and riverside areas under the Coast Guard's jurisdiction and trafficking prevention have significantly improved. The Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future.
