
Mother, daughter killed in truck collision in Noakhali

A mother and her daughter riding a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed after being hit by a truck in Begumganj, Noakhali. Two more people, including the CNG driver, were injured in the incident.
The accident occurred around 8:30 PM on Friday in the Amin Bazar area on the Chaumuhani-Lakshmipur regional highway.
The deceased were identified as Jamila Sultana Inu (21), wife of Abdur Rahman of Deopara village in Lakshmipur, and her daughter Fatema Akter (2).
According to police and local sources, a passenger CNG-run auto-rickshaw left Chandraganj, Lakshmipur in the evening headed toward Chaumuhani, Noakhali. Upon reaching the Amin Bazar area on the regional highway, a recklessly speeding truck coming from the opposite direction collided with the CNG. The mother and daughter died on the spot. Two others, including the CNG driver, were injured.
The truck fled the scene immediately after the incident. Police later recovered the wrecked CNG auto-rickshaw.
Dr. Asim Kumar Das, Health Officer of Begumganj Upazila, confirmed that both victims were dead before arriving at the hospital. Their bodies have been kept at the hospital.
Begumganj Police Station OC Liton Dewan said police visited the accident site after receiving the report. The truck escaped following the incident, and the highway police will take legal action in this regard.
