Shah Jamal Siraji elected Upazila Chairman in Sherpur Vice Chairman Sunny and Shikha

Former Vice Chairman and Acting Chairman Shah Jamal Siraji has been declared the winner of the 6th Upazila Parishad 4th phase election at Sherpur in Bogura.
Upazila Awami League Vice-president Shah Jamal Siraji served as vice-chairman from the previous elections. Later, he was serving as acting upazila chairman before the last 12th national parliament election. In this election five candidates contested for the post of chairman of Sherpur Upazila Parishad. Among them, Shah Jamal Siraji got 40 thousand 180 votes with motorcycle symbol.
His nearest rival Upazila Awami League general secretary Sultan Mahmud got 38 thousand 751 votes in Pineapple symbol. On the other hand Six candidates contested for the post of Vice Chairman (Male). However, Md Noor Alam (Sani) won with the symbol of the lock and Four people contested for the post of female vice chairman. Among them Mst.Shikha Khatun won with duck symbol.
A total of 81 thousand 926 valid votes were cast in Sherpur Upazila. And the number of invalid votes is 2 thousand 899. The voting rate is 28.92 percent.
Sherpur Upazila Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mr. Sumon Jihadi announced the results at around 12 o'clock on Wednesday night.
